Spring happenings

All dressed up for St. Patrick's Day! 

They came up with the idea of throwing gold coins in the air and taking a picture! 

Brett with the leprechaun trap he made for school. He worked hard on it and was really excited to show it to the class.

Cute smiles before class! The kids found some little leprechaun shoes in their trap last year and are completely convinced that leprechauns are real. They were expecting big things this year and the leprechauns just did not deliver up to expectations. Brett was so disappointed that he didn't catch a real leprechaun that he came home from school and cried and cried (he was pretty mad, too!). When I took Cara to the gym with me, she tripped and fell and scraped her knees and lip and tore her dress. By St. Patrick's Day afternoon we were all a little worse for wear and I was ready to say goodbye to leprechauns forever. 

Taekwondo is a big part of our lives right now! They boys are having a lot of fun with it and have been quite successful. They are starting to get a reputation as the boys with the killer spinning back kicks! I think they are fun to watch because they are usually much shorter than their opponents, but they are both very quick and have good timing and accuracy. They usually defeat all comers! They both got gold at the Stanford scrimmage.

Brett was feeling pretty under the weather, but he still managed to score a win.

We went to Fresno for the California State competition. Here is Jason listening to some advice from Master Evon.

Brett is State champion for the 6-7 year old division! He did great and it was so exciting to watch him!

Jason did great, too. He ended up with a bronze for his division! It was a little tricky to work with the electronic scoring equipment, and it sort of neutralized their greatest weapon- the spinning back kick. He did an extra exhibition match and won that one, so he wasn't too disappointed with a bronze. We learned a lot at States and had a great time.

We were all excited to eat some bbq after a long day at the tournament.

They cleaned up at their lemonade stand. They somehow made $32.00! No one can resist these cuties. Everything was only a quarter, but they got lots of tips.

The boys have been practicing TKD quite a lot, so Cara and I have been having fun hanging out together.

My friend Liz's father in law keeps tortoises as pets. He has 5 really big ones, and 8 or 9 smaller ones. We went to see them for the letter "T".

Cara LOVED the tortoises and was so excited to ride on them and feed them. She probably fed them 15 carrots without incident, but right before we were about to leave, a tortoise took an extra big bite and got the tip of her finger! He thought she was a carrot, but she is a CARA! It was a very sad end to a fun outing. The preschool co-op has been a lot of fun for everyone this year.
