St. Patrick's Day and a Superhero Show

We don't usually do anything for St. Patrick's Day, but Jason had to make a leprechaun trap for Kindergarten.  Of course, Brett wanted to make one, too, and they both got excited about dressing up, so now we have a new holiday that must be celebrated.

We did quite a bit of research on traps.  They tend to either have a ladder leading to a false floor, trapping the leprechaun in a pit, or a box propped up with a stick.  The leprechaun is lured by the gold, bumps the stick and is captured by the box.  Jason made the stick kind, and Brett wanted to make the pit kind. Brett left his out at our house overnight. When we woke up we found a little tiny rope hanging over the side, so we think that sneaky leprechaun had a buddy who pulled him out of the pit.  He did leave behind some candy and some hot wheels cars, though! Jason had all sorts of good ideas to trap a leprechaun including mirrors and battery powered lights and sticky tape on the floor.  We had to scale back a little, but he worked hard on his trap and was so excited to set it up at school....

Which is why it was so disappointing when he went to school and found nothing in his trap at all!  Look at that face. So disappointed. I was a little surprised myself because they had been talking about the traps for a whole week. Jason doesn't believe in Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy, but he was pretty convinced there really were leprechauns and that his trap would work.  I wasn't expecting an actual leprechaun, but I would think maybe a sneaky leprechaun could have left a little surprise behind! Oh, well. He got over it and ended up having a good day at school.

We got Cara a babysitter and took the boys to a live action superhero show.  It was the first live show they have ever been to. It was pretty fun- they had all the major superheros (Iron Man, Captain America, Spiderman, Wolverine, etc..) There were some cool stunts with motorcycles and they even set a guy on fire! They boys loved it.

I love my Brett. He really gets into events. I don't know if he was more thrilled about the show or the treats, but he had a great time.

All that excitement and sugar led to a major crash. As soon as we buckled him into the car he was out like a light.

Jason was pretty worn out, too. Two exhausted boys is the sign of a fun afternoon!

I just love picking these cuties up after school. Brett waits for Jason every day crouched over, arms open (like a soccer goalie) ready to ambush him with a bear hug as soon as he walks out the door.

I think her pink cowboy boots elevate every outfit!
